Peas! Cherries!

Picked peas this morning. Once I got them shelled/strung, I had 2 pints of English peas and 4 pints of sugar snaps for the freezer. I have some left for eating too - yay!

Last night we picked sweet cherries, and today I've gotten them sorted. Hubby found a recipe online and it sounds like there is a sweet cherry pie in our very near future.

I'd tell you more, but do you really care that I hung out laundry and watered garden and cleaned out the henhouse and turned the compost?

Plus, I'm puppy dog tired. More soon!

Love and hugs (and peas and cherries!)

P.S. I have a quart of buttermilk. Do you have a good scone recipe that uses it? What else (besides biscuits) can I do with buttermilk?

Lawsuit muffins!!!!! They use quite a bit of buttermilk, and you can change them by changing the fruit. YUM - sweet cherry and cocolate! LOL!

Oh, Laura! I have a recipe for Buttermilk Pie ~ it is absolutely insanely delicious! It's like a sweet cream custard. Let me know if you'd like the recipe, and I'll post it on my blog ~ that way if any of your other readers would like it, they can follow the link to get it, too.

Aren't all these peas wonderful? We've picked a little over 6 lbs so far and they're still growing strong! This is all new to me, so I'm just elated!

Yum, y'all! And thanks! I would love that recipe (and I'm sure others would too), Farmer J! I'll link it through the blog so more people see it.

Muffins sound so good too! I have my TOPS meeting on Friday morning (take off pounds sensibly), and I have to weigh in, so I am not making anything so yummy today - it'll have to wait one more day!

Six pounds is a lot of peas! I didn't weigh mine, but I'm doubtful it was anywhere near that amount. Then again, compared to you, my garden is barely a hobby! ;)
Sorry I didn't get the Buttermilk Pie recipe up last night, Dearie. I was up to my eyeballs in peas. Heehee!

The recipe will likely remain on the main page for a while ~ I don't seem to be able to update our blog as frequently as I'd like to these days ~ but the direct link is: http://farmnsanity.com/wordpress/?p=632. I hope you like it.

About those peas. Heehee! We only have two small rows of them, each about 8' long, but those babies are putting on like they're on steroids! This is the first time I've ever planted peas, so it's just so fun and amazing to me. But then, I'm such a simple girl. Heehee!

Thanks for everything! Love, hugs and prayers!

Thanks Farmer J! I don't know when I'll get to it - we are getting garden busy too! I have a smaller pea patch than you do, but we're getting plenty for us! Tonight I got some green beans, and zucchini, and thinned carrots. Oh my!

Take care, dearie!
