A Peek at Our Week!

Remember the snow we got?  All melting away now, and bringing much needed moisture into our soil here.

Daughter has discovered the hilarity of Mad-Libs and is cracking herself up with them.  It's funny to hear her just laughing and laughing.  When we ask her to read us her most recent Mad-Lib, she is always laughing so hard that she can't get through them.  It's really funny, and she's having a great time.

I just finished up dog-sitting for the pup across the road.  He weighs about 120, and he's lonesome.  Last Thursday he came barreling over to see me and knocked me clear to the ground....at least we still had the snow then!  He is a really good boy...he just forgets that he's huge.

I've been working on some plans for a second outdoor run on the hen house.  That way, the chickens can alternate year to year, and we can use the other run for a garden space.  Well, we had already planned to use the run as a garden space, but this way they can continue to use the shed/henhouse.  We are not in a hurry on this, but we'll work on expansion if we have time this summer.

Husband and I have been planning spring and summer projects, namely the driveway and some outdoor landscaping.  It's going to be a busy  year, but I think it will look really nice, at least how ever much of it we can afford to do.  We're going to need a lot of dirt, and some gravel.  And a bunch of other stuff.  And muscles.

For family night I popped some popcorn and we watched  Yogi Bear.  Daughter thought it was so, so funny, and hearing her giggle was a joy.

We made peanut butter playdough last Saturday.  Have you made this?  Stir peanut butter and honey together.  Add dry milk powder until it's playdough consistency.  Play with it, and eat it, and be happy!

Late Saturday afternoon, I attended a group called 'Happy Needles' that meets at our library.  Everyone just brings whatever needle-craft they are working on, and we sit and work on our projects and chat.  It was pretty wonderful.  I got more done on my afghan that afternoon than I had all week.  Other members of the group were knitting, quilt piecing, and doing cross stitch.

It was Communion Sunday at church.  I kept thinking about eucharisteo, how thankful I am for all the blessings and gifts bestowed on me.  I left feeling renewed and full of happiness.

We watched the Super Bowl on Sunday.  I'm mostly in it for the commercials and the snacks.  Besides, Downton Abbey is on Sunday night, greatly overshadowing some silly football game.  Behold, the snacks!

There was also pizza.  And this is what Talluah Mae thinks of the Superbowl...and pretty much everything else:

Tuesday, Daughter and I went to the Paint Mines to hike and explore with a homeschool group that we just met.  It was a lot of fun!  Everything was uphill...or downhill...and it was a beautifully sunny day.  We talked some about the striations in the soil, what might make the soil have different coloring through time, and the possibility that there might be fossils.  There was also a great deal of running, playing, exploring and friend-making.  Truly a great day.

In the photo below you can see some kids on top of the hoodoo, and some kids below.  There is another hill (with grass) behind, but to get to the top of the hoodoo, you have to climb it.

And I climbed it!  WOOHOO!!!

It really has been a fun week.  What have you been up to?
