Jury Duty

I reported for jury duty today. There is a system here where 'most of you will be dismissed, or serve today, and that will meet the requirements of your service.' It's called One Day, One Trial.

Out of 500-some people who were required to report today, guess who was in group one?

Out of 18 people in group one, guess who was chosen as a juror?

And guess who gets to go back tomorrow, because we did not finish today?

It really is an interesting process, and my geeky self is enjoying learning about the judical system in a participatory way. And that is all I can say about any of that.

Seriously. I'd tell ya, but they'd have to kill me. Or something like that.

Under oath and sleepy,

I'm glad you are finding the jury process interesting, Laura. I, too, find the entire justice system interesting, and I thoroughly enjoyed working as a paralegal. I even tossed around the idea ~ under strong encouragement from Husbie ~ of obtaining a law degree. I just couldn't figure out how to make it feasible at the time...Husbie in Iraq, two small boys to shuttle around, etc., etc.

Love and hugs, as always!

The primary function of the independent juror is not, as many think, to dispense punishment to fellow citizens accused of breaking various laws, but rather to protect fellow citizens from tyrannical abuses of power by government. - Fully Informed Jury Association

That said....hope it's not too boring!!

I dislike Jury Duty, thankfully, I have never had to serve. I have had to show up 3 times now. But actualy serve as a juror has not had to happen. Glad to see you are still blogging. For some odd reason, I no longer have you on my feed.
