Happy Spring!

Photobucket

We hope you have a wonderful Easter. We got snow! It was a nice wet, puffy snow that melted fairly quickly, providing some much-needed moisture. We played in it a little bit too.

Today, you would never have guessed that it snowed the day before. Sunny, warm, a light breeze...perfect clothesline weather.

Our seedlings ar coming along nicely. In fact, it seems that lately, by the time I get photos uploaded, the seedlings are bigger.

The hens are happy too, but their days of foraging are numbered, lest they eat the young garden.

Once in a while, one of them thinks about going broody, but so far it just lasts a day or two. (Mercy, someone looks angry!)

I would love for them to set and hatch their own chicks, but we have an incubator, just in case.

What are you doing this spring?

What am I doing this spring? Wishing I had a few chickens, like you. But, our city has just approved that people with our size lot can have six chickens. Hum. Maybe in the future.

Chickens are SO entertaining. I really love ours. Six hens would give you quite a few eggs too! If you're new to chickens, check out www.backyardchickens.com - it's a great forum, especially for the 'urban hen', hee hee!
