Our First Egg!

Remember those cute little chicks we got way back when? Well, we finally got our first egg! We are pretty excited, and celebrated by having breakfast for supper - eggs, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and oranges. It was a double-yolker! It was also quite yummy, and we look forward to many more eggs in the future!

Also, we are sharing Thanksgiving with our next-door neighbors. There will be five of us total, and it will be fun to get together! I'm starting to plan the menu. What are your Thanksgiving 'must-have' items? Leave a comment and share them here!

I have heard that double yolk hens continue to lay that way; perhaps you will have the same luck. My first dozen eggs that I bought in France ALL had double yolks!

cool, i am happy for you, and i love that picture :)
when i was a kid we used to get our milk and eggs directly from a farm and had many double-yolkers. i think its time for me to really go out there and look for a farm where i can buy eggs, because $4 for a dozen organic eggs is just crazy, when i could be buying locally and help out someone in my town. there just aren"t many farms around here, but i will try.
thanks for your great blog, i check it every day :)
hugs

Awesome! Our hen just layed its first egg too, and I was looking around for other posts from chicken-bloggers. I took almost exactly the same photo with my 3 year old.

Here's my first egg.
