Monday, Monday...
Spring has sprung,
The grass has riz.
I wonder where
The flowers is?
No idea who wrote that one, but Dad recites it pretty often. Spring is just now arriving to our part of the world. It looks like the early blooming fruit trees have survived our recent snow and cold temps, and we're starting to see a few signs of life here and there.
In our neck of the, er, Prairie, planting anything before May 31 is risky. I have a few peas out, some green onions, a little lettuce and a few other odds and ends. They are slow to get going - the soil just isn't quite warm enough yet - but maybe they'll give us a few early garden treats. I re-planted some small red onions from the pantry - they were starting to sprout already, so I put them in the ground. Maybe this year they'll grow into big ol' hamburger onions!
Do you plant a garden? What do you grow?
