$20 Meal Plan - Feb 3-9
Currently, we are spending just $20 a week on groceries, and planning meals so that we use up some of our stockpile in the pantry and freezer.
This week I found a few things on sale that helped round out our meals. Navel oranges were .49 a pound, strawberries were 1.50 a pound, roma tomatoes were .49 a pound and we picked up a 25 cent lime. We also stocked up on tuna, Pringles (for my husband's lunch, and probably some home snacking too) and got a great deal on DiGiorno frozen pizza, which also came with a free 2 liter soda. We also had some fresh produce on hand from the previous week - celery, red leaf lettuce, and a bit of romaine, radishes, jalapenos, apples and a tomato. I got some Carnation Instant Breakfast mix for free, along with some Wholly Salsa Guacamole with Pico de Gallo. So with those items, and the items in our pantry, here is this week's menu:
Breakfasts
(some will repeat)
oatmeal, dried fruit, milk
breakfast tacos, orange slices
cereal, milk, fresh fruit
yogurt, granola, frozen fruit
fruit smoothie, peanut butter toast
Lunches
supper leftovers when available
pbj on wheat, carrots, apples, yogurt
salad with strawberries, toasted pecans and poppyseed dressing, cheese and crackers
Snacks
popcorn
fresh fruit
yogurt with granola
Hawaiian sweet bread (trying a new recipe) w/peanut butter
Suppers
Super Bowl: chips w/guacamole salsa, hot wing chicken bites, pizza, carrots and celery, strawberries, soda
jalapeno poppers, shrimp tacos, slaw, pineapple
chili and rice, celery sticks, oranges
hamburger helper lasagna, green salad, apples
roast sticky chicken, stuffing, glazed carrots, fruit salad
shoyu turkey, rice, kimchee, slaw, oranges
blt sandwiches, homemade soup, fruit plate
Grocery List: If cilantro is around .35 a bunch, I will get one bunch, but when I was in the store, they were completely out. I love it on the breakfast tacos and the shrimp tacos. I have already picked up the other items I needed (cabbage, onions, dishwasher gel, all that stuff listed above) and I have about $4 left of this week's $20, so I think we'll be OK.

This week I am eating left over bits and pieces in the fridge. For lunch today I am having cottage cheese and cole slaw. I don't really meal plan but rather eat what I feel like eating since I am the only person to feed.
