Goals for the Week

Well, some things went really well this past week, and other things...I didn't get near them.  For one, I ended up with apples to process.  I didn't have that on my list, but it took priority over things like making a recipe binder or planning holiday treats.  I can see that even though I tried to keep my list realistic, it wasn't.  So I'm just going to continue with it for this coming week, with an item or two added because they need to happen. :)

Faith
continue the book I'm reading/working through - Days of Deepening Friendship by Vinita Hampton Wright  I did 4 chapters this week, and will continue it this week.

read Letting God Come Close - An Approach to the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises by William Barry (You may be wondering....no, I'm not Catholic...I just happen to be doing this self-guided study of St. Ignatius and his teachings.  I have already read one of Fr. Barry's books and it was really helpful! )  I am about 1/3 through this book, and will continue it this week.

set aside 15 minutes at the beginning of each day for prayer and bible reading   I did this for four days, but not the other three.  Not that I didn't pray or anything those days, but not first thing.

Family
complete a week's worth of school with Daughter  We did this, but it needs to repeat this week too.

try cinnamon popcorn recipe

massage for Husband  more like a backrub, er.

make sure Husband gets some alone/down/quiet time

Home
begin a menu/recipe binder - set up categories and add the recipes I have for healthy breakfasts

make a winter canning list/list of supplies I'll need

continue to process apples

shred and freeze zucchini...or zucchini bread

House
wash/wax front door, clean up front porch

dust ceiling fans, tops of doors, high shelves

clean out linen closet in master bath

Garden
plant rose bush

check carrots, dig them if they're ready I picked some, and will finish picking them this week...which will give me the space I need to plant the rose bush.

monitor spinach, tomatoes, zucchini and pumpkins  we had a frost, so I'm down to just checking zucchini

Personal/Health
32 or more ounces of water per day  Ha!  I thought this was 64 or more, so that's how much I drank each day.

make/eat lunch salads for the week - 4 days, since I already know we've got lunch plans Friday
repeating this one for 4 days again this week

exercise 5 days - total of 5 miles walking/treadmill
I did it!  I'm bumping myself up to 6 miles/5 days this week.

DIY
work on emptying, sweeping, cleaning and vacuuming the garage so we can seal the concrete We got everything prepped and we already have the first coat of sealer down.

What do you plan to accomplish this week?

now that I have nothing else left to can, I might get caught back up on going through the house. Hopefully having another yardsale before Halloween.

Continue to declutter and clean out the attic. Most of the stuff coming down from there I don't even remember. It is time for it to go.

Meet with the ladies I will be mentoring at the prison release half way house. This has been in the works for more than two years. I am really excited to get started on this. (My Mom is freaking out.)
God has my back and I am not afraid.

Grate and freeze the zucchini I got for a great price today.

Chop and freeze peppers bought for 33 cents each today.

Try a new recipe.

Pick apples with hubby. Plan what I am going to do with the apples so that I don't bring home too many.

Thanks for your replies, April and Lana! It sounds like all of us will be plenty busy. :)

That looks like a hefty set of goals. I do that, too--set a ton of goals and I can never get them all done. I figure that if I make a huge list, and only get 1/2 of them done, I am still ahead of the game.

I am still concentrating on getting lots of school work done with my 2 daughters that I still homeschool. It's taking a lot out of me this year as we are getting the rhythm down for certain classes. For instance, I sat with my 13 year old for about 5 hours this week, helping her figure out her Spanish homework. It's all on-line except for the 1-1/2 hour class she attends on Thurdsays and I'm on a learning curve, to put it midly. Hopefully, this will lessen with time. My older daughter, who has taken this class for 3 years now (she is up to level 3), does not need much help at all. She, however, is needing quite a bit with her Biology, which we are doing completely at home.

I canned some pickled peppers. I've been planning meals from the freezer and cupboards, and cooking them. I want to do that again this week. I want to go through the garden one more time for a few more odds and ends. Most of it is tilled/pulled up, but there are a few things left. We ate the gallon of green beans I got last Friday 4 times so far. There are a few left, but they may be headed for the chickens:)

I think you're right, Becky - having goals at least helps me prioritize some things that need to happen, but it's pretty common for me to have a few remaining at the end of the week.

Do you use a virtual school for homeschooling? I ask because what you described sounds similar to what we do, and we use a virtual school for the core of our curriculum. We supplement from there. Daughter is 2nd grade, so the help she needs from me isn't too much at this point. :)
