Tueday's Household Tips - How to fake Italian Sausage

Would you look at that monster? It's homemade, from last week..or the week before. It's got everything on it, including Italian sausage. The only thing is, when I went to the freezer for 'pizza stuff', I didn't have any Italian sausage - just breakfast sausage. That happens a lot, because breakfast sausage goes on sale more frequently, and it has better coupons.

Knowing that, I figured out a long time ago that adding some Italian seasoning and a bit of fennel will alter the flavor of standard, mild breakfast sausage. I just stir it in until it looks and smells right, and then we use it anywhere we'd put Italian sausage. No need to go to the store, just spice up whatever you have on hand. For a one pound roll of breakfast sausage, I start with 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning and 2 teaspoons of fennel. Add more if you like. Yum!

That's your pizza crust recipe, Jalene! I used 1/3 for a pan pizza for Hubby, and the other 2/3 on a 16" pizza pan (pictured). It was very good!

Thank you all for your kind words!!
