I Dare You to Enter This Giveaway!
Are you interested in feeding your family healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, high fiber foods?
Would you like to decrease the number of trips you make to the supermarket?
Do you like meals that are easy to prepare, that taste good, that are healthy and super affordable?
Do you like to be prepared for things like a change in your budget, a job loss or an emergency?
Ever feel like cutting your grocery budget down so you can use some of that money for other things? (Yarn! Craft Supplies! Whee!)
If you said yes to any of the above questions, you should totally enter this giveaway. And after you do, you should go over to my friend Leisa's website and check out her awesome recipes.
See, I'm giving away two copies of Leisa's book, I Dare You To Eat It: Designing Food Storage You Would Actually Want To Eat. Inside you'll find lots of great information about food storage and more importantly, how to actually use food storage on a regular basis. Because really, wholesome foods aren't going to do you much good if you aren't cooking them.
The beauty of Leisa's book (and of Leisa herself) is that she makes the whole thing do-able. She shows you how to prepare some things ahead so that when it's time to make a meal you only need a little time to put it on the table. Also, from a practical standpoint, she points out that wheat can be used for more than just flour! You can make lots of healthy, wholesome and delicious recipes without owning a mill.
I Dare You To Eat It helps you plan and organize your food storage and your pantry based on what you like and what makes sense for your family. And right smack at the midpoint in the book, the recipe section begins with lots of great recipes. Some of the recipes are on Leisa's site too, which is why you want to go there and get a sneak preview!
Leisa's book is written from a Christian perspective, specifically the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, aka LDS, aka Mormon. I am not Mormon, so in addition to all the practical information, I learned a little about the positive, community-building spirit with which food storage is put forth in this faith - so inspiring!
I really like this book. Can you tell? It made me think about possibilities I'd never considered, even though I was already a food storage geek, with several kinds of wheat on hand...even though I have been gardening and home-canning, freezing and dehydrating food for years. It's fun to read, and I promise you'll learn something new!
To enter the giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post. One per customer, unless you want to do any of this stuff: If you were to subscribe to TenThingsFarm or become a follower (see righthand column for both of those options), leave a second comment to let me know, thereby increasing your chances to win a copy of this awesome book. If you already subscribe or 'follow', just let me know (in a comment). Enter yet again if you tweet, blog, or otherwise use technology to spread the word.
And when you're done with all that, don't forget to visit over at I Dare You To Eat It.
Thanks for playing! I'll close comments next Monday night (1/25/10) and announce the two winners on Tuesday, (1/26/10).
Peace, Love and Hippie Tacos,
-Laura at TenThingsFarm
P.S. I was not monetarily compensated for the above posting that promotes the book I Dare You To Eat It, by Leisa Card. I just really, really like the book. Leisa was kind enough to give me some copies to give away. Thank you, Leisa! :)

You obviously love this book. Since I wanna be like you when I grow up I plan to head over there now and bookmark it!
Seriously though, I am leaning more and more into these types of ideas and planning to learn more.
I am already doing more from scratch and inventing recipes (and grinding my quaker oats into flour for cookies...)
hugs sweetie
