Oh, Poo.

We have the north plant bed all dug out for asparagus, blackberries and strawberries. We have spaces prepared for raspberries and currants too. Next we'll start on the blueberry bed.

This afternoon I took the truck a little north of here and a very nice alpaca farmer used his tractor to fill the bed of my truck with alpaca manure. From what little I've read, it will do just what we need it to for our soil to be really wonderful. We're so excited to try it out this year!

So...one truckload was a good start. I'm hoping to get a truckload of horse manure from a neighbor this week, then some more alpaca manure next weekend. By the time we get enough for the new plant beds and the garden, we'll have hauled a whole lotta poo, but I think it's going to be worth it.

Have you ever heard the little noise that alpacas make? I don't even know how to describe it - it's ultimate cuteness turned into sound, coming out of ultimate cuteness in animal form. And soft? Hoo, doggies they are softer than ought to be allowed. Did I mention that they're cute? Did I mention how much I regret leaving the camera at home? I promise to take it next time so you can see them too!
