My silly Hens!
I picked up a bale of straw and some feed this weekend, so I thought I'd show you just how silly my hens can be.
Every time they hear the truck, they act like it's Armageddon. Run! Run for the henhouse!!
Duh - I'm going IN the henhouse, y'all.
Run, Everyone out of the henhouse!!
I've got my hay fork a grain shovel, and a fresh bale of straw. They've wallowed all the straw out of the nests, they look so empty!
There, that's better.
I'll spare you the 'before' pictures of the piles underneath the roosts. You're welcome. But doesn't it look nice after, all full of fluffy, inviting straw?
Chickens are not big on change. It takes them a little to feel comfortable and safe.
I love that second head peeking in!
Someone's already checking out a nest!
That evening, everyone seemed settled in. Crisis averted! It's going to be OK.
I'll have more chicken posts for you soon - there's actually a lot going on out there these days!
