My Fish Story!
We went up to the reservoir today to do a little early Labor Day weekend fishing. Packed up the rods and reels, nightcrawlers, the cooler, snacks, sunscreen, all that good stuff.
We hadn't been there very long when we started to get a few nibbles. Just over an hour in, I caught a fiesty trout! I weighed it after I cleaned and scaled it and it was 4.8!!!
Okay, ounces. Yep, the single serving size!
Then, the clouds rolled in, the wind picked up, and the rain started. Slow at first, then a little more, until we retreated to the shelter of the nearby visitor center. By the time we were all warmed up again, the rain was a little more substantial, and so were the clouds. We packed up our 'haul' and headed down the mountain.
Still, we had a lot of fun, and that little girl of ours is getting pretty good at casting. Not good enough for a hook yet (she has a casting weight on her rod and reel), but she got one cast about 12 feet out into the lake! The rest of them were a little closer to shore, but even so, a good time was had by all.
Have you got Labor Day weekend plans? I am subbing at the library tomorrow, but we may try for another bit of fishing on Sunday or Monday. The hot air 'balloon glow' is both Saturday and Sunday night in town - they have dozens of hot air balloons at the big city park. They inflate them, then light them all up at 9pm. It's a free event, and something to see. Other than that, I think we'll spend Labor Day pretty close to home, enjoying one another's company and taking it easy.
How are you bidding farewell to Summer this weekend?
