When Noodles ATTACK!!
Oh, my mama is gonna be sooooooo proud.
I was making lunch today - homemade spaghetti sauce, homemade breadsticks with garlic-parsley-butter coating, swiss chard from our garden (by the way, YUM), apple crisp (also homemade, with apples from our orchard). The homemade noodles aren't really right for spaghetti, so I got out a package of storebought fettucine.
It wasn't the boxed kind, but rather the kind wrapped in cellophane. You know how to open those, right? You grasp the whole thing, semi-firmly, about halfway up the side. Hold it upright, give it a 'pop' on the counter, and the noodles push through the end of the cellophane.
Unbeknownst to me, there was a shortie fettucine in that wrapper. Whilst all her pasta buddies were opening the package for me, she pierced through the skin of my palm, about half an inch below my index finger.
Then, she broke off.
OW.
I got out the big piece, but over 8 hours later, it's still really sore. I can't feel anything hard in there (by now my own 'juices' probably softened it up) but I'm pretty sure there's still some noodle splinter in my paw. It hurts to move any part of my hand....but it also kinda hurts that I have been injured by a noodle! What's next, bruising from a marshmallow?
We're going out tomorrow to do errands. I just might wear a helmet and kneepads. I'm definitely avoiding the pasta aisle.

I have never received a pasta injury, but I've frequently drawn blood with corn chips.
It fell off of the back of a truckwhen she was working at the grocery store. :)
