Great Horned Toads!!
I don't know why everyone calls them that....they are lizards! More than anything, they are cute, cute, cute!
We were putting down mulch around some landscaping when this little one said hello.
This is about the average size we see here, though we have seen some a little bigger.
For the most part, they eat ants, so they are more than welcome here! I read on Wikipedia that some species can squirt blood from the corners of their eyes...how cool is THAT? I don't think ours can do that, because we handle them a good bit, and it has never happened. It's nice to have some cute, harmless wildlife around. :)

We have one of these living just outside our henhouse - it's about 5 inches long. For here, that's a good sized one! The one in the photo is fairly small. :)
